A toast to the most efficient human powered machine ever developed and it just happens to be for transportation. The model pictured below is a Dutch bicycle known as a bakfiet, literaly meaning 'box bike'.
In step with the City of Cleveland's Bikeway Masterplan, an informal collaboration between citizens, City of Cleveland councilmen, non-profits, & several City of Cleveland staffers has resulted in the first use of Sharrows or Shared Lane Markings in Cleveland and likely in the entire state. Like Bicycle Lanes, Shared Lane Markings are another tool for facilitating bicycle use on appropriate roadways.
Bicyle Commuting in Northeast Ohio is about to get a whole lot easier
The OhioRideshare service, created by NOACA, is pleased to announce a new feature that has been added to the web site: a bicycle commuter matching service called OhioBikeBuddies. This new, free service works similarly to OhioRideshare:

Northern Ohio’s bicycle groups are coming together to produce the first ever “Cleveland Bicycle Week” May 12 – 16, 2008.
Ford Chairman William Clay Ford Jr. expressed some provactive thoughts at a speech at the University of Michigan, captured in a Nov 14 article in the NY Times. Namely, he stated that,
Every September 22, people from around the world get together in the
streets, intersections, and neighbourhood blocks to remind the world
that we don't have to accept our car-dominated society.

The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) invite you to a briefing at which a new study will be released entitled Public Transportation's Contribution to U.S. Greenhouse Gas Reduction. The study, conducted by SAIC, examines the effect of public transportation on carbon dioxide emissions. It aims to answer the questions: how much net carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) is public transportation saving in the United States with the current level of transit services being offered?
